Policy Server Requirements

Yosemite Desktop/Laptop Backup currently supports servers with the following minimum specifications:

Operating System

• Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 or later
• Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Prerequisite Software

• Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
• Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 or Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE)
• Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 or later with ASP.NET support enabled

Disk Space Required

• 1.5 MB for Yosemite Desktop/Laptop Backup Enterprise
• 40 MB for .NET Framework
• 70 MB for MSDE

Client Requirements

Yosemite Desktop/Laptop Backup currently supports laptops and desktops with the following minimum specifications:

Operating System

• Windows 7
• Windows Vista
• Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later

Prerequisite Software

• Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 *
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later

Disk Space Required

• 20 MB for Yosemite Desktop/Laptop Backup agent
• 40 MB for .NET Framework

* This prerequisite software is automatically installed, if necessary, during the Yosemite Desktop/Laptop Backup agent installation.

Backup Server Requirements

Yosemite Desktop/Laptop Backup will back up protected files to any file server that uses Microsoft's Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocol for Windows file sharing:

Operating System

• Windows Server 2003
• Most Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliances *
• Linux and other "Unix-like" systems running Samba *

Storage Space

Storage requirements vary widely and depend on the mix of protected documents, the principal activities of your users, and the number of user computers. Contact Yosemite for recommendations as to the storage required for your particular environment.

* Note that many NAS and Samba-based systems do not fully support Windows access permissions.
